Description :
Sistelo is an essentially mountainous territory, furrowed by deep valleys through which the Vez River and its numerous tributaries flow. A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and part of the Peneda Gerês National Park, it is an area of extraordinary heritage, magnificent landscapes and rugged orography. The average gradients are very high (17%), with altitudes varying between 180 and 1370 metres in just 7 km. The resident population is 199, most of whom work in agriculture (around 87%). Recently, thanks to public investment, the tourism sector has begun to gain importance, with some traditional houses converted into tourist accommodation and restaurants opened.
